We never guarantee funding because grant awards are ultimately at the discretion of funders. Grants can be denied for many reasons—shifts in funder priorities, limited available funds, or a focus on specific types of nonprofits. Some foundations also prefer to see repeated applications before awarding funding, as they want to ensure the nonprofit is stable and committed for the long term. This is especially important since many nonprofits don’t make it past their first few years.
